BEIRUT -- Lebanon and Israel began on Wednesday the U.S.-mediated indirect talks for maritime border demarcation, LBCI local TV channel reported.

Head of the Lebanese delegation Brigadier General Pilot Bassam Yassin said that Lebanon aims at negotiating the border demarcation by respecting international laws and expected other parties to fulfill their obligations based on their commitment to the requirements of international laws. ISTANBUL -- Turkish police detained eight foreign nationals in two separate operations over their suspected links to the Islamic State (IS) militant group, local media reported on Wednesday.

At an operation conducted in Turkey's western province of Izmir, police captured seven Syrians who were accused of working on behalf of the IS, the state-run Anadolu agency said. (Turkey-Operation-IS)

JERUSALEM -- Israel said on Wednesday that its new F-35 squadron has completed a joint exercise with the U.S. air forces.

The so-called "Enduring Lightning 3" exercise took place in southern Israel, an Israeli army military spokesperson said in a statement, adding that the exercise was conducted in a special format due to the COVID-19 outbreak. (Israel-U.S.-Drill)

CAIRO -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held talks in capital Cairo on Wednesday with UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov, where they discussed the latest developments of the decades-long Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
