BEIJING, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

SUVA -- Fiji currently has no COVID-19 cases in the community, Fijian Health Minister Ifereimi Waqainabete said on Thursday.

The minister said the last quarantined COVID-19 patient was released on Wednesday after multiple test results came out negative.

BEIJING -- No new locally transmitted confirmed, asymptomatic, or suspected cases of COVID-19 were reported in Beijing on Wednesday, the municipal health commission said Thursday.

The capital also reported no new imported cases on Wednesday, according to the commission.

SUVA -- Tourism Fiji launched the Care Fiji Commitment on Thursday to reassure travellers that the country is a safe destination to visit on their next holiday when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

This has been developed in consultation with stakeholders from the tourism industry through the Tourism Recovery Team and endorsed by the COVID-19 Risk Mitigation Taskforce and the Ministry of Health.

MANILA -- The Philippines reported 2,261 new daily cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 348,698.

The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) said the number of recoveries also rose to 294,161 after 385 more patients recovered. Meanwhile, 50 more patients died from the viral disease, bringing the death toll to 6,497.

JAKARTA -- Nine more Indonesian doctors have recently died of COVID-19, bringing the death toll of doctors from COVID-19 to 136, the Indonesian Medical Association said on Thursday.
