HANOI -- Floods, landslides and other natural disasters triggered by downpours have left 105 people dead and 27 others missing in Vietnam's central and central highlands regions since early October, the country's Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control said on Tuesday.

The death toll rose from 90 reported on Monday. The fatalities were mainly reported in the provinces of Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam, according to the committee's latest report. (Vietnam-Flood)

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand reported 11 imported COVID-19 cases from a large group of international fishermen on Tuesday, days after they arrived in Christchurch.

About 440 fishermen from Russia and Ukraine arrived in New Zealand on two charted flights, with the first arriving from Moscow via Singapore on Friday. Most of the 237 people onboard have been under isolation at the government-managed Sudima Hotel, near Christchurch Airport. (New Zealand-COVID-19)

KHOST, Afghanistan -- A district chief and a police officer were killed and a local elder wounded in militants' ambush on their vehicle along a main road in eastern Afghanistan on Monday, a provincial government spokesman said on Tuesday.

"Abdul Hai Zazai, chief of Jaji Maydan district of eastern Khost province, and a police officer were killed after militants ambush their vehicle in Altamor locality of neighboring Logar province late on Monday," spokesman Talib Mangal told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Attack)

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally reached 7,597,063 with 46,790 new confirmed cases recorded in the past 24 hours, showed the data released by the federal health ministry on Tuesday.

The total death toll rose to 115,197, including 587 newly reported.

This is the first time in nearly four months when the per day new cases fell below 50,000, and per day deaths below 600. (India-COVID-19)

ISLAMABAD -- Two terrorists were killed by security forces in the country's northwest tribal district of North Waziristan, according to a statement from the Pakistani military.
