KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported 732 new COVID-19 infections, the Health Ministry said on Wednesday, bringing the national total to 22,957.
Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press briefing that eight of the new cases are imported and 724 are local transmissions, of which 535 are reported from the eastern state of Sabah.
Six more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 199.
Another 580 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total cured and discharged to 14,931, or 65 percent of all cases.
Of the remaining 7,827 active cases, 102 are being held in intensive care and 31 of those are in need of assisted breathing. Enditem
