YANGON, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar reported 27 more COVID-19 deaths in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 972, according to a release from the Health and Sports Ministry on Wednesday.
As of Wednesday, 39,696 infection cases have been reported in the country, with 1,194 new cases.
So far, a total of 18,865 patients have been allowed to be discharged from hospitals, the ministry's release said.
Myanmar confirmed the first two cases of COVID-19 on March 23. A total of 552,448 samples have been tested for the diseases as of Wednesday. Enditem
