German shares lose 1.41 pct

FRANKFURT, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- German shares lost on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index down 179.31 points, or 1.41 percent, to close at 12,557.64 points.

European multinational online food-delivery service Delivery Hero lost the most among the blue chips, down by 3.98 percent, followed by aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero and multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer, which shed 3.10 percent and 2.57 percent respectively.

Material manufacturer Covestro, pharmaceutical company Merck and multinational chemical firm Linde were the top three winners, rising 0.49 percent, 0.36 percent and 0.33 percent respectively.

Multinational software corporation SAP was the most traded share of the day, with a turnover of 305.19 million euros (361.71 million U.S. dollars).

China's Haier, a leading global household appliances manufacturer listed in Frankfurt in 2018, lost 0.71 percent to close at 0.788 euros per share on Wednesday. Enditem
