YEREVAN, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Armenia announced on Wednesday to impose a temporary ban on the import of Turkish final goods from Dec. 31.

Armenia's news agency Armenpress quoted the office of Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan as saying that the ban of Turkish goods was mainly due to the fact that Turkey supports Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

"The ban of imports of products of Turkish origin halts the financial flows from Armenian sources into Turkey's state treasury, and at the same time preventing the infiltration of potential dangers through the import of final goods from a hostile country," the office was cited as saying.

The ban will take effect on Dec. 31, said the report.

A new round of armed conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia broke out on Sept. 27 along the contact line of the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

Armenia has been accusing Turkey of getting involved in the conflict, which was denied by both Turkey and Azerbaijan. Enditem
