RAMALLAH, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Palestine announced on Wednesday that the internal tourism in the West Bank will resume.

Ibrahim el-Haffi, undersecretary of Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, told reporters that his ministry has started coordination with the Ministry of Health to open hotels and tourist establishments in the West Bank.

He noted that since the outbreak of the COVID-19 in the Palestinian territories in March, the tourism sector has incurred losses of 1.5 billion U.S. dollars.

The Palestinian Authority suspended internal and external tourism in the West Bank after the first COVID-19 cases were recorded in Bethlehem district on March 5.

Meanwhile, Mai al-Kaila, the Palestinian minister of health, said that the ministry recorded on Wednesday six new fatalities from the COVID-19 and 569 new cases in the Palestinian territories, bringing the death toll to 492 and the total infections to 59,595. Enditem
