ABUJA -- Twenty villagers in Zamfara state in northwestern Nigeria were killed by a group of gunmen, the state police said Wednesday.

TALUQAN, Afghanistan -- At least eight Afghan civilians were killed and eight others wounded during armed clashes and airstrikes in northern Takhar province Wednesday night, a local official said on Thursday.

"The clashes erupted between security forces and Taliban militants in Hazara Qeshlaq, an area between Baharak district and provincial capital Taluqan city during Tuesday night. SEOUL -- South Korean stocks recorded the first fall in four days on Thursday as offshore investors offloaded local stocks amid the lingering uncertainty over the COVID-19 outbreak.

BANGKOK -- A natural gas pipe exploded on Bangkok's eastern outskirts on Thursday, causing about 20 casualties, according to police.

The gas pipe, used by the Petroleum Authority of Thailand to supply natural gas to factories in the Bang Bo district of the Samut Prakan province, exploded and suddenly caused a blaze, police said. (Thailand-Gas Pipe Explosion) Enditem
