MOSCOW, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Bezymianny Volcano in Russia's Kamchatka erupted on Thursday, spewing out ashes 10-12 km high and posing a threat to three nearby settlements.

"On the morning of Oct. 22, 2020, an explosive eruption of the Bezimyanny Volcano began. The height of the ash emission was 10-12 km above the sea level," the regional branch of the Russian Emergencies Ministry said in a statement.

"Tourists in Kamchatka are advised to refrain from visiting the Bezymianny Volcano and its environs," it added.

The ministry said that the eruption will continue for the next few days with a plume as high as 15 km above sea level. Enditem
