CAIRO -- Egyptian and Spanish naval forces conducted joint military drills across the domain of the Egyptian Navy's Southern Fleet in the Red Sea, the Egyptian military spokesman said in a statement on Thursday.

ISTANBUL -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani discussed on Thursday cooperation possibilities in the fight against terrorism over the phone, Turkey's presidential office said.

TEHRAN -- Ambassador of Switzerland to Iran Markus Leitner was summoned on Thursday to Iran's Foreign Ministry after the U.S. issued claims about alleged attempts by Iran and Russia to influence American elections.

BEIRUT -- Lebanon named on Thursday former Prime Minister Saad Hariri as new premier, with 65 votes out of 128, to form a cabinet, one year after the eruption of nationwide protests that led to his resignation, MTV local TV channel reported.
