TOKYO, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended marginally higher Friday as the final presidential debate between U.S. President Donald Trump and Democratic challenger Joe Biden before the Nov. 3 election threw up few surprises.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 42.32 points, or 0.18 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 23,516.59.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 5.53 points, or 0.34 percent, to finish at 1,625.32.

Rubber product, air transportation and mining-oriented issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play. Enditem
