LONDON, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 1.29 percent, or 74.63 points, to close at 5,860.28 points.
Rolls-Royce Holdings, a Britain-based engineering company, soared 7.40 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Barclays and Lloyds Banking Group increased by 6.96 percent and 4.91 percent, respectively.
Pearson, a British multinational publishing and education company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 1.65 percent.
