LA PAZ, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Luis Arce Catacora, the candidate for Bolivia's Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) party, has been named the virtual winner of the Oct. 18 presidential elections with 55.1 percent of the votes, after 100 percent completion of the official count published by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) Friday.
According to the official count, presidential candidate Carlos Mesa, from Citizen Community (CC), came in second with 28.83 percent of the votes, followed by candidate Fernando Camacho from the Creemos (We Believe) alliance, with 14 percent of the votes.
Arce achieved more than a 26-point victory over his nearest competitor, making him the virtual winner of the Bolivian presidential elections.
The TSE announced on Thursday that it would officially present the results and declare the winner of the election on Friday at 6:00 p.m. local time (2200 GMT) at an event in the capital city of La Paz.
The MAS party has announced that its official celebration will take place Saturday morning in the city of El Alto.
Over 7.3 million people were eligible to vote in the general elections that were held on Oct. 18 to select a new president and vice president, as well as senators and deputies for the constitutional period of 2020-2025. Enditem
