BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Brunei's overall consumer price index (CPI) rose by 2.1 percent year-on-year in August, showed the latest official data released Saturday.

According to the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (DEPS) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the rise was mainly due to the increases in the prices and costs of Miscellaneous Goods and Services (11.4 percent), Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (2.5 percent) and Transport (1.6 percent).

Meanwhile, on a monthly basis, the August CPI recorded a decrease of 0.2 percent compared to July. Enditem
