ALGIERS, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- A woman and her daughter were killed in a landmine explosion on Saturday in the province of Ain Defla in Algeria, according to local media.
The explosion occurred in the town of Bouarus of Ain Defla, some 150 km northwest of capital Algiers, Al Nahar newspaper reported on its website on Saturday.
The same source stated that the explosion was caused by a home-made bomb near the house of the victims, a 67-year-old woman and her 42-year-old daughter.
It indicated that the bomb was from "the period of terrorism in the 1990s" when anti-government armed groups planted thousands of mines and other explosives in remote areas in the country. Enditem
