RIYADH, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi-led coalition involved in a war in Yemen announced on Sunday that it foiled the third bomb-laden drone attack in a day.
The spokesperson of the coalition, Turki Al Maliki, said the drone was destroyed in the afternoon before reaching its target in the southern region of the kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The first drone was intercepted in Yemen before reaching Saudi Arabia in the early hours of Sunday.
The second drone that also targeted the southern region also was destroyed by the coalition in the afternoon.
The Houthis frequently target Saudi Arabia, mainly border areas, with drones and missiles.
The civil war in Yemen started late 2014, and the coalition intervened in 2015 to support Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi. Enditem
