BEIJING -- The 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) started its fifth plenary session in Beijing on Monday.

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a work report on behalf of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and explained a draft document on proposals for the formulation of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035. HARARE -- Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Sunday thanked China and Russia for standing by Zimbabwe in its consistent call for the unconditional removal of Western sanctions.

In a speech to mark the Southern African Development Community (SADC) anti-sanctions day, Mnangagwa paid tribute to the two countries, SADC, the African Union, and other countries around the globe for their support. (Zimbabwe-China-Support)

QUITO -- Mayor of Ecuador's capital Quito, Jorge Yunda, said Sunday that he will quarantine himself "as the regulation requires" after testing positive for COVID-19.

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally reached 7,909,959 as 45,148 more cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data released by the federal health ministry on Monday.

UNITED NATIONS -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed the joint statement on Sunday by the United States, Armenia and Azerbaijan announcing that a previously reached humanitarian cease-fire agreement will take effect at 8 a.m. local time (0400 GMT) on Monday, said his spokesman.
