Afghanistan reports 66 new COVID-19 cases

KABUL, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan on Friday reported 66 new COVID-19 cases within the past 24 hours, bringing the total tally in the country to 41,334 cases, the Ministry of Public Health confirmed.

"Within the past 24 hours, 169 suspected coronavirus cases were tested, out of which 66 tested coronavirus positive in northern Balkh and southern Kandahar, Zabul and Uruzgan provinces," the ministry said in a statement.

One COVID-19 patient succumbed to the virus, taking the death toll to 1,533 since the outbreak of the pandemic in February in the country.

The number of people recovered reached 34,285 after 19 more were released from hospital during the period.

The laboratories across Afghanistan have conducted 122,182 tests since February, according to the statistics of the ministry. Enditem
