DHAKA -- China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Co, Ltd (MBEC) has installed another span of Bangladesh's largest Padma Bridge, bringing a total of 5.25 km of its main structure into view so far.

About 6.15 km of the 25-meter-wide and 10-km-long bridge is being built over Padma River, one of the three major rivers in Bangladesh, while the remaining part is on its both banks. (Bangladesh-Bridge)

MANILA -- At least 10 people were killed and three others were missing after Typhoon Goni swept across south of the Philippines' main island of Luzon Sunday, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said.

The OCD in Bicol, one of the hardest-hit southernmost regions of Luzon, said in a report that at least nine died in Albay province and one in Catanduanes island province where the super typhoon made landfall around 4:50 a.m. local time on Sunday. (Philippines-Typhoon-Deaths)

COLOMBO -- Sri Lankan authorities said on Sunday that a weekend curfew in the Western Province including the capital Colombo would be extended till Nov. 9 as the number of COVID-19 patients continued to rise.

The on-going weekend curfew was supposed to be lifted on Monday morning.

Sri Lanka's Army Chief and head of the National Operation Center for Prevention of COVID 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) Lt. General Shavendra Silva said in a statement that the government had decided to extend the curfew to prevent the public from leaving their homes while authorities battled to control a spread of the virus. TOKYO -- The China Film Week of the 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) concluded on Sunday, with a batch of new movies featuring Chinese society and culture.

Among the 12 films showed during the event, Lost in Russia, Wild Grass and Chairman Mao 1949, among others, won the Gold Crane Awards. Chinese actor Xiao Yang and actress Zhong Chuxi won the best actor and actress awards respectively. (Japan-China-Film Week) Enditem
