TOKYO, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Monday as investors bought back a wide range of issues after the benchmark Nikkei stock index sunk to a two-month low late last week.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 318.35 points, or 1.39 percent, from Friday to close the day at 23,295.48.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 28.62 points, or 1.81 percent, to finish at 1,607.95.

Land transportation, metal product and iron and steel-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play. Enditem
