BERLIN, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- German stocks were off to a good start on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index rising by 70.53 points, or 0.60 percent, opening at 11,858.81 points.
The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies at the start of trading was aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero Engines, increasing by 1.74 percent, followed by carmakers Daimler and Volkswagen with 1.59 percent and 1.53 percent.
Shares in Bayer fell by 2.03 percent, making the German pharmaceutical giant the biggest loser at the start of trading Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Bayer announced that sales in a "challenging third quarter" decreased by 5.1 percent to 8.5 billion euros (9.94 billion U.S. dollars) year-on-year while the German company recorded net losses of 2.7 billion euros (3.16 billion dollars) due to "seasonal factors."
The yield on German ten-year bonds went up 0.014 percentage points to minus 0.624 percent, while the euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.1642 dollars, increasing by 0.01 percent Tuesday morning. Enditem
