German shares open 0.78 pct higher

BERLIN, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- German stocks saw a good start on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index rising 96.66 points, or 0.78 percent, opening at 12,420.88 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies at the start of trading was chipmaker Infineon, increasing by 3.11 percent, followed by online food delivery company Delivery Hero with 1.93 percent and Germany's largest software company SAP with 1.90 percent.

Shares of Munich Re fell by 1.76 percent. The German reinsurer was the biggest loser at the start of trading after it announced that its profit in the third quarter declined to 199 million euros (234 million U.S. dollars).

New order of Germany's important manufacturing sector in September increased by 0.5 percent from the previous month, but declined by 1.9 percent compared with the same month last year, the Federal Statistical Office said.

The yield on German ten-year bonds went down 0.018 points to minus 0.656 percent, and the euro was trading unchanged at 1.1723 dollars on Thursday morning. Enditem
