TEHRAN -- Iran's health ministry reported 8,864 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, raising the total nationwide number to 663,800.

The pandemic has so far claimed 37,409 lives in Iran, up by 424 in the past 24 hours, said Sima Sadat Lari, spokeswoman for the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education, during her daily briefing. (Iran-COVID-19)

AMMAN -- The tally of COVID-19 cases in Jordan exceeded 100,000 on Friday after 5,384 new infections were recorded.

The total COVID-19 cases in the kingdom rose to 101,248, while the fatalities from the virus climbed by 67 to 1,136, the Jordanian Health Ministry said in a statement. (Jordan-Coronavirus)

TUNIS -- Tunisian Health Minister Faouzi Mehdi announced on Friday that from Nov. 9, a test for COVID-19 and a 14-day quarantine commitment will be required for all passengers coming from abroad.

Arrivals from abroad can spend the compulsory quarantine in a hotel or at home with the possibility of conducting a second lab test for coronavirus on the seventh day of quarantine to ensure that the person is free of the disease, thus reducing the period of compulsory quarantine to a week, Mehdi said in his speech at the parliament. RAMALLAH -- A series of tight measures to combat COVID-19 came into force on Friday amid fear of a wider spread of the virus during winter in the Palestinian territories, the Palestinian government said.
