BEIJING, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

MOSCOW -- Russia tallied 20,396 COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, slightly down from the all-time high of 20,582 recorded the previous day, the country's COVID-19 response center said Saturday.

Russia's cumulative number of coronavirus cases has grown to 1,753,836, including 30,251 deaths and 1,312,927 recoveries, the center said in a statement.

KIEV -- A total of 450,934 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 8,312 deaths have been registered in Ukraine on Saturday, while 204,229 patients have recovered, according to the health ministry.

A record 10,746 people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country in the past 24 hours, while 8,685 patients recovered, the ministry added.

BANGKOK -- With rare cases of local COVID-19 transmission in Thailand, health authorities on Saturday said they were puzzled by the new discovery of a local infection from Krabi, a popular resort island in Thailand's south.

A local case in Krabi province was among 12 new COVID-19 patients reported on Saturday, raising the total to 3,830 cases.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection (CHP) reported three new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, taking Hong Kong's tally to 5,364.

Of the newly-reported cases, two had a travel history during the incubation period, and the remaining one was a local case with unknown source of infection, the CHP said.

WINDHOEK -- Facilities built by a Chinese enterprise in Namibia have aided the country in curbing the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

Manufacturing company Nami Prefabricated Housing CC built several COVID-19 prefabricated isolation facilities across the country, of which four were completed by July this year.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN -- Brunei reported no new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday with the national tally standing at 148.

It marked the 16th consecutive day without new cases since Oct. 22, when the country recorded an imported case from Kuala Lumpur.

MANILA -- The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday reported 2,157 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection, bringing the total number in the country to 393,961.

The DOH said 252 more patients recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 350,216. The death toll climbed to 7,485 after 24 more patients died from the viral disease, the DOH added. Enditem
