PHNOM PENH, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and his mother, former Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, returned home on Saturday after spending a month in Beijing, capital of China, for regular medical checkups and treatments.

At Phnom Penh International Airport, the royal family was cordially welcomed by Cambodian Senate President Samdech Say Chhum, National Assembly President Samdech Heng Samrin and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian as well as other dignitaries.

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen was absent at the event because he has been undergoing a 14-day self-quarantine at home after meeting with COVID-19-infected Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto.

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday awarded Cambodian Queen Mother, Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, the Friendship Medal of the People's Republic of China at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

King Sihamoni, 67, and Queen Mother Monineath, 84, regularly have their health checked up by Chinese doctors in Beijing twice a year. Enditem
