UN chief saddened by loss of life caused by Hurricane Eta in Central America

UNITED NATIONS, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Saturday expressed his sadness over the loss of life and destruction of property caused by Hurricane Eta in Central America.

Through a statement attributable to his spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, the UN chief commended the efforts of all those working hard to bring relief to people across the region.

Guterres expressed his solidarity with the governments of the region and reiterated the readiness of the United Nations to work with them as they respond to the humanitarian needs resulting from this disaster.

In the last few days, Hurricane Eta has made landfall in Central America and caused loss of dozens of lives and tremendous destruction of property. Enditem
