Ecuador summon uncapped Munoz for World Cup qualifiers

QUITO, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Uncapped midfielder Adolfo Munoz has been named in Ecuador's squad for 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Colombia, the Ecuadorian Football Federation said on Saturday.

The 22-year-old, who has represented Ecuador at U-20 level, was one of five LDU Quito players named in the 29-man squad.

As expected, head coach Gustavo Alfaro also included Torino midfielder Erick Ferigra, Sporting Lisbon winger Gonzalo Plata and Fenerbahce forward Enner Valencia.

Ecuador will meet Bolivia in La Paz on November 12 and Colombia in Quito five days later.

The Tricolor are currently fifth in the 10-team South American zone qualifying standings, having lost to Argentina and beaten Uruguay in their first two fixtures.
