RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Brazil registered 10,917 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide count to 5,675,032, the Health Ministry said Monday.
Over the same period, 231 more deaths from the disease were reported, raising the national death toll to 162,628.
The latest data do not include the updates from the state of Sao Paulo, the country's most populated and affected region by the pandemic, the ministry said.
Brazil currently ranks second worldwide in terms of COVID-19 deaths, only behind the United States, and third in terms of confirmed cases, following the United States and India. Enditem
