Namibia to host youth games to gear up for African Region 5 Games

WINDHOEK, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Namibia will host the MTC Namibia Youth games at the Chinese-funded National Youth Service (NYS) Training Center in Rietfontein in the Otjozondjupa region from Dec. 16 to 18.

The games features 153 competitors, 79 female and 74 male, competing in athletics, able and para-athletes, basketball, boxing, netball, tennis, volleyball and football.

On Monday, the Minister of Sport, Youth and National Services, Agnes Tjongarero, launched the games under the theme 'Building on Sporting Excellence'.

Tjongarero said the games will provide an opportunity to talents from all 14 regions to be selected for the national team for the upcoming African Union Sport Council (AUSC) Region 5 Youth Games, scheduled for December 2021 in Lesotho. Enditem
