Live COVID-19 updates: Germany reports 21,866 more cases

BEIJING, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

BERLIN -- Germany's COVID-19 infections increased by 21,866 within one day to a total of 727,533, the federal government agency for disease control and prevention Robert Koch Institute (RKI) said on Thursday.

The number of deaths related to COVID-19 in the country rose by 215 within one day to a total of 11,982, according to the RKI.

KIEV -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak, who on Monday were diagnosed with the coronavirus, are currently in isolated wards at the hospital, online newspaper Ukrayinska Pravda reported on Thursday.

"Everything is quite strict, regulated by protocol. They are in Feofania hospital. There is a special office where the president can hold meetings." Mykhailo Podoliak, an advisor to the president's office, told Ukrayinska Pravda.

JAKARTA -- The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 4,173 within one day to 452,291, with the death toll adding by 97 to 14,933, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.

According to the ministry, 3,102 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the number of recovered patients to 382,084.

MOSCOW -- Russia confirmed 21,608 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, with 439 deaths, the highest number of coronavirus deaths in one day since the start of the pandemic, the nation's COVID-19 response center said in a statement on Thursday.

Moscow recorded the majority of the new coronavirus infections with a daily increase of 5,997, pushing the total number of cases in the capital to 491,542.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN -- Brunei reported no new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday with the national tally of cases standing at 148.

It marked the 21st consecutive day without new cases since Oct. 22, when the country recorded an imported case from Kuala Lumpur.

HONG KONG -- China's Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection reported 23 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, including six local cases of unknown origin.

Of the newly reported cases, 16 people had a travel history during the incubation period. The remaining seven were local cases, among them, six had an unknown source of infection. Hong Kong's tally was raised to 5,430.

NEW DELHI -- Serum Institute of India (SII) has announced that along with Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), it has completed enrolment of phase 3 clinical trials for COVID-19 vaccine COVISHIELD.

According to the statement issued by SII, it has further collaborated with the ICMR for clinical development of COVOVAX developed by Novavax and upscaled by SII. Enditem
