BANGKOK, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Thursday raised four matters which Thailand sees as crucial to addressing the COVID-19 situation at the 37th summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The virtual summit kicked off on Thursday with Vietnam holding the summit's rotating chairmanship this year.
"At this current pandemic crisis, the ASEAN community should put efforts in (1) prioritizing public health amid the pandemic, (2) sharing data in regards to development of vaccines, (3) integrative approaches to rehabilitation, and (4) adaptation to the New Normal," said Prayut in the virtual meeting.
The Thai prime minister said Thailand is ready to support the use of the ASEAN Fund to ensure widespread access to a COVID-19 vaccine and to the establishment of a repository of medical equipment for an emergency response.
Prayut also said all members of the bloc should work together for regional stability and in addressing COVID-19, remarking that all members should continue dialogues and "seek common ground" to avoid any conflict on any issue.
Prayut also echoed Vietnamese President Nguyen Phu Trong's call for collective efforts to promote peace and ensure good care for people within the bloc. Enditem
