BEIJING, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

DHAKA -- Bangladesh reported 1,845 new COVID-19 cases and 13 new deaths on Thursday, making the tally at 427,198 and death toll at 6,140, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

The official data showed that 17,112 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh.

HANOI -- Vietnam reported a new case of COVID-19 infection on Thursday, bringing its total confirmed cases to 1,253 with 35 deaths from the disease so far, according to its Ministry of Health.

The new case is a Hungarian national who recently entered the country from abroad and was quarantined upon arrival, said the ministry.

LONDON -- The British economy recorded a robust rebound in the third quarter (Q3) 2020 as the government eased lockdown measures, following a steep contraction in the second quarter (Q2), said the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Thursday.

Data revealed that the country's gross domestic product (GDP) was estimated to grow quarterly by 15.5 percent in Q3 following a plunge in Q2 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

HANOI -- Leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states Thursday approved a number of documents and measures in response to the COVID-19 epidemic on the first day of the ongoing 37th ASEAN Summit, Vietnam News Agency reported.

Notably, the bloc's leaders approved the ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework and its Implementation Plan, which will serve as the community's exit strategy to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

BEIJING -- China attaches great importance to the safety and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines and strictly observes international standards, as well as relevant laws and regulations, according to a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson at a daily press briefing on Thursday.

Spokesperson Wang Wenbin's remarks came after Brazil's health regulator approved the resumption of clinical trials of a Chinese-developed coronavirus vaccine following two days of suspension.

BERLIN -- Germany's COVID-19 infections increased by 21,866 within one day to a total of 727,533, the federal government agency for disease control and prevention Robert Koch Institute (RKI) said on Thursday.

The number of deaths related to COVID-19 in the country rose by 215 within one day to a total of 11,982, according to the RKI.

KIEV -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak, who on Monday were diagnosed with the coronavirus, are currently in isolated wards at the hospital, online newspaper Ukrayinska Pravda reported on Thursday.
