SINGAPORE -- Alibaba Group's Southeast Asia flagship platform Lazada has made a new record for Singles' Day shopping festival once again, with more than 40 million users and 400,000 brands and sellers participating in the one-day sales event this year across the region.

KUNDUZ, Afghanistan -- Eight Afghan soldiers and seven Taliban militants were killed and 11 people wounded during clashes in the country's northern Kunduz province early Friday, local officials confirmed.

The clashes flared up after a Taliban militant group armed with guns and rocket launchers attacked on a security position in restive Imam Sahib district, triggering heavy clashes with the security forces, district chief Mahbubullah Sayeedi told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Clashes)

YANGON -- Myanmar's ruling National League for Democracy (NLD) party has won more than enough seats to form a new government in the general elections held across the country on Nov. 8, according to a result announcement by the Union Election Commission (UEC) on Friday.

As of Friday morning, the NLD party has won 346 seats in the Union Parliament -- the House of Representatives (Lower House) and the House of Nationalities (Upper House), passing the target parliamentary seats to win, the UEC's figures showed. (Myanmar-Elections-Result)

HANOI -- The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) late Thursday convened the first-ever ASEAN Women Leader's summit via video link, discussing women's role in the bloc's development amid COVID-19.

The event, held within the framework of the 37th ASEAN Summit and related summits, offered the group's leaders a chance to talk with female leaders in the region and at international organizations about how to further uphold their role in the process of building the ASEAN Community following the COVID-19 pandemic.
