BUCHAREST -- The death toll in a fire erupted late Saturday in the COVID-19 intensive care unit of the Piatra Neamt County Hospital in northeastern Romania has risen to 10, according to a spokesperson.

"Ten people have been declared dead and seven people are in critical condition, including the doctor on duty," Irina Popa, spokesperson of the local Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, told local media after the fire was extinguished.

According to the spokesperson, 16 patients were in the two COVID-19 emergency wards when the fire erupted. (Romania-Hospital-Fire)

LONDON -- Chinese Ambassador to Britian Liu Xiaoming on Friday expressed "grave concern" over and "firm opposition" to Britain's groundless accusation against Chinese lawmakers' decision on the qualification of members of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday called for Congress to pass a "big and focused" COVID-19 relief bill as confirmed cases are surging across the country.

GUATEMALA CITY -- A mudslide claimed the lives of at least three people, and four others remain missing in the eastern Guatemalan municipality of Camotan, near the border with Honduras, Guatemala's National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction announced on Saturday.

Recent heavy rains caused a concrete wall to collapse onto a house in the Agua Caliente neighborhood of Camotan, where relief units have been working since the early hours of Saturday to find the victims. (Guatemala-Landslide) Enditem
