Live COVID-19 updates: S. Korea reports 208 more cases, 28,546 in total

BEIJING, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 208 more cases of the COVID-19 as of midnight Saturday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 28,546.

The daily caseload hovered above 200 for two straight days, growing in triple digits for the 8th day due to small cluster infections in Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi province as well as imported cases.

Of the new cases, 81 were Seoul residents and 41 were people residing in Gyeonggi province.

KIEV -- Ukraine's Health Minister Maxym Stepanov said Saturday that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

"Despite the caution and observance of all safety rules today, I got a positive test for COVID-19," said Stepanov on his Facebook page, urging Ukrainian people to comply with quarantine measures and not to visit crowded places.

URUMQI -- No new confirmed COVID-19 cases or asymptomatic cases were reported in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Saturday, the regional health commission said Sunday.

Four COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospital on Saturday after recovery, and 24 asymptomatic carriers were released from medical observation, according to the commission.

SAO PAULO -- Brazil's COVID-19 death toll reached 165,658 on Saturday after 921 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, the Latin American country registered 38,307 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the national count to 5,848,959.

PARIS -- France confirmed 32,095 COVID-19 infections in the past 24 hours, pushing the total count to nearly 2 million, while hospitalization-related figures improved, figures released by health authorities showed on Saturday.

Since the country reported its first COVID-19 cases in mid-February, a total of 1,954,599 people have been infected, of whom 44,246 have died, up by 354 in one day.

BEIJING -- The Chinese mainland on Saturday reported no new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said Sunday.

A total of 13 imported COVID-19 cases were reported across the mainland Saturday, the commission said in its daily report. Enditem
