Live COVID-19 updates: Russian COVID-19 cases up 22,572 to 1,925,825

BEIJING, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

MINSK -- Belarus reported 1,315 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, taking its nationwide count to 114,185, according to the country's health ministry.

There have been 1,506 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number to 95,843, the ministry said.

BUDAPEST -- Hungary on Sunday registered 4,238 new COVID-19 cases in a 24-hour span, raising the national total to 140,961, according to the government's coronavirus information website.

In the past 24 hours, another 107 people have died from the disease, taking the death toll to 3,097 in the country, while 31,599 have recovered. Currently, 7,013 patients are being treated in hospitals, and 569 of them are on ventilators.

TOKYO -- The confirmed COVID-19 cases in Japan increased by 1,435 to reach 118,702 as of Sunday night, according to the latest figures from the health ministry and local authorities.

The figure excludes the 712 cases from the Diamond Princess cruise ship that was quarantined in Yokohama near Tokyo earlier in the year.

HANOI -- Vietnam reported 25 new cases of COVID-19 infection on Sunday, bringing its total confirmed cases to 1,281 with 35 deaths from the disease so far, according to its Ministry of Health.

Among the new cases, one is Russian and the rest are Vietnamese citizens. They all entered the country from abroad recently and were quarantined upon arrival, said the ministry.

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia reported 1,208 new COVID-19 infections, the Health Ministry said on Sunday, bringing the national total to 47,417.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that six of the new cases are imported and 1,202 are local transmissions. The capital city of Kuala Lumpur reported the most cases in the country with 469 confirmed, of which 460 are from a cluster at a construction site.

JAKARTA -- The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 4,106 to 467,113, with the death toll adding by 63 to 15,211, the Health Ministry said on Sunday.

According to the ministry, 3,897 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 391,991.

MOSCOW -- Russia registered 22,572 COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, slightly down from the all-time high of 22,702 the previous day, the country's COVID-19 response center said Sunday.

The national tally of cases has grown to 1,925,825, including 33,186 deaths and 1,439,985 recoveries, the center said in a statement. Enditem
