ABUJA -- A group of unidentified gunmen killed at least 11 villagers and wounded many others in Nigeria's northwestern state of Kaduna on Monday, said a local official.

The gunmen, suspected to be bandits, raided the village in large numbers, opening fire on residents of the Albasu village in the Igbabi Local Government Area of Kaduna, said Samuel Aruwan, a commissioner for Kaduna State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs. (Nigeria-Gunmen-Attack)

JAKARTA -- A 6.3-magnitude quake jolted Indonesia's western West Sumatra province on Tuesday morning, but did not potentially trigger a tsunami, the meteorology and geophysics agency said.

The quake struck at 8:44 a.m. Jakarta time (0144 GMT) with the epicenter at 109 km southwest Tuapejat of the province and the shallow at 10 km under sea bed. (Indonesia-Earthquake)

TRIPOLI -- Libya's UN-backed Prime Minister Fayez Serraj on Monday said he welcomed the general elections to be held in December 2021.

"The president of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord welcomes the outcomes reached by the participants of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) held in Tunisia from 7-15 November, which include setting a date for holding presidential and parliamentary elections on December 24, 2021," Serraj said in a statement.
