JERUSALEM -- Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al Zayani arrived in Israel on Wednesday morning, in Bahrain's first government visit to Israel, following a normalization agreement signed in September.

The delegation landed at Ben Gurion Airport outside Tel Aviv.

Al Zayani has scheduled meetings with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and later with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. (Israel-Bahrain-Visit)

KINSHASA -- The Democratic Republic of Congo announced on Wednesday the end of the country's latest Ebola epidemic after the outbreak claimed 55 people in the past five months.

According to data from the World Health Organization, the latest outbreak killed 55 among a total of 119 confirmed cases since it began in June. (DR Congo-Ebola)

LIMA -- Francisco Rafael Sagasti was sworn in as Peru's interim president at a special session of the Congress on Tuesday.

Sagasti's predecessor Manuel Merino was forced to resign on Sunday amid protests across the country after he assumed the presidency early last week, following the removal of former President Martin Vizcarra by the Congress.

Sagasti on Monday pledged to do "everything possible" to bring hope to the people and show them that "they can trust us (politicians)." (Peru-President-Sworn-in)

KUNDUZ, Afghanistan -- Five Afghan civilians were killed and eight others wounded after mortars struck two houses in Afghanistan's restive northern province of Kunduz early Wednesday, a local source told Xinhua.

"The incident occurred roughly at 3:00 a.m. local time, when two mortar shells landed on two houses in Talowka, an area on outskirts of provincial capital Kunduz city," Mohammad Ashraf from local council told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Mortar Shelling) Enditem
