WASHINGTON, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration on Wednesday cleared Boeing's 737 Max to fly again, 20 months after it was grounded following two fatal crashes of the plane.
FAA Administrator Steve Dickson signed an order that paves the way for the Max to return to commercial service, said the nation's air safety agency in a press release.
The FAA on Wednesday published an Airworthiness Directive specifying design changes that must be made before the aircraft returns to service, issued a Continued Airworthiness Notification to the International Community, and published the Max's training requirements.
"These actions do not allow the MAX to return immediately to the skies," said the release.
The Max was grounded worldwide in March 2019 after crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia killed all 346 people on board the two flights. Enditem
