ABUJA -- Seven people were confirmed killed after two trucks had a head-on collision in Kano, a state in Nigeria's northwest region, said a local official on Thursday.

Two others were injured following the accident on the Hadejia road in Nassarawa local government area of Kano on Wednesday, said Saidu Muhammed, a spokesman for the Kano State Fire Service. (Nigeria-Road-Accident)

BRUSSELS -- Member states of the European Union (EU) need to make compromises for a deal on the new migration policy, as there is no solution that satisfies everyone, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Thursday.

WASHINGTON -- U.S. non-essential travel restrictions across its borders with Canada and Mexico will be extended through Dec. 21 due to COVID-19, U.S. Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf said on Thursday.

"In order to continue to prevent the spread of COVID, the US, Mexico, & Canada will extend the restrictions on non-essential travel through Dec 21.
