MEXICO CITY, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Ecuador international winger Jefferson Montero has joined Queretaro as a free agent after parting ways with Swansea City, the Mexican club said on Friday.

The 31-year-old is Queretaro's first signing for the 2021 season following the club's failure to reach the current Liga MX Apertura playoffs.

It will be his third stint in Mexico, having previously spent time at Dorados and Morelia.

"I'm very happy to return to Mexico. I hope that we can go far together," Montero said in a short video message to fans on Queretaro's website.

Capped 64 times for Ecuador's national team, Montero has also had spells at Villarreal, Levante, Real Betis, Getafe, West Bromwich and Birmingham City in a 13-year professional career. Enditem
