Live COVID-19 updates: Germany's cases rise to 918,269, Philippines adds 1,968 infections

BEIJING, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

BERLIN -- Germany reported 15,741 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide tally to 918,269, according to data released Sunday by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

Meanwhile, 138 more deaths were reported, taking the national count to 14,022, the tally showed.

MANILA -- The Department of Health (DOH) of the Philippines on Sunday reported 1,968 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection, bringing the total number in the country to 418,818.

The DOH said 10,957 more patients recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 386,486. The death toll climbed to 8,123 after 43 more patients died from the viral disease, the DOH added.

TBILISI -- Georgia reported 4,048 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing its total to 104,732.

A total of 1,602 of the 4,048 new cases were confirmed in the capital city of Tbilisi, the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health said.

SOFIA -- The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria has tripled in less than four weeks, reaching 120,697, official figures showed on Sunday morning.

The health ministry said 2,279 new cases, among 5,729 tests carried out, were registered in the last 24 hours.

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally reached 9,095,806 on Sunday as 45,209 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry.

According to the data, the death toll mounted to 133,227 as 501 more patients died since Saturday morning.

BUENOS AIRES -- Argentina reported 112 new COVID-19 deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide tally to 36,902, the country's Health Ministry said Saturday.

Meanwhile, 7,140 new cases were reported, taking the national count to 1,366,182, the ministry said, adding that 1,187,053 people recovered.

SAO PAULO -- Brazil has registered 376 new deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the national death toll to 168,989, the Ministry of Health said Saturday.

Meanwhile, the number of infections went up by 32,622, bringing the nationwide tally to 6,052,786, the ministry said.

BEIJING -- China's National Health Commission said Sunday that it received reports of 17 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland Saturday, including three domestically transmitted and 14 imported cases.

Of the domestically transmitted cases, two were reported in Inner Mongolia and one in Shanghai, the commission said in its daily report. Enditem
