SYDNEY -- The Australian state of Victoria recorded its first day with zero active COVID-19 cases in close to nine months on Tuesday, marking the official end of a severe second wave.

Victoria's cases peaked at over 700 per day in early August, however were brought under control by a statewide lockdown which has since ended. (Australia-COVID-19)

SEOUL -- South Korea will raise its social-distancing rules to the third-highest level for two weeks from Tuesday through Dec. 7 in the Seoul metropolitan area amid the soaring COVID-19 cases in the capital area.

The country's five-tier social-distancing regulations will be lifted to Level 2 in Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi province for two weeks, according to the health authorities. (South Korea-COVID-Measures)

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 349 more cases of COVID-19 as of early Tuesday local time compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 31,353.

The daily caseload rose above 300 after recording 271 in the previous day. It grew in triple digits for 17 days running due to small cluster infections in Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi province as well as imported cases. (South Korea-COVID-19)

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on Tuesday highlighted the crucial importance of the primary industries, implying that her government would invest huge resources in the areas for accelerating economic recovery.

"Whether it is keeping the milk flowing through our processing plants or livestock moving through our freezing works, the food and fibres sector has kept New Zealanders fed and maintained our vital export markets," Ardern said during her speech at the second Primary Industry Summit held in Te Papa, national museum of New Zealand in Wellington.
