MUMBAI, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- India's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has extended its car leasing initiative to four more cities, the company said in its filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday.

Under the company's Subscribe program, a customer needs to pay an all-inclusive monthly fee of 207.5 U.S. dollars per month for a 48-month tenure for a new car that comprehensively covers maintenance and insurance during the period.

Earlier, the service launched in September was available in the four cities of Delhi National Capital Region, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune and has now been extended to metro cities of Mumbai and Chennai, along with Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar in the western state of Gujarat.

"We have received over 6,600 enquiries in the first few months of pilot launch. We are aiming to introduce the Maruti Suzuki Subscribe program in 40-60 cities over a period of two to three years," said Shashank Srivastava, executive director for Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki.

At the end of the subscription tenure, the customer can also opt to extend and upgrade the vehicle, or buy the car at market price.

According to experts, India is exploring the huge untapped potential of the passenger car leasing market, hoping it would become a boon following the pandemic. Enditem
