RIO DE JANEIRO -- Brazil's COVID-19 death toll surpassed 170,000 on Tuesday, after 630 new death cases were reported in the past 24 hours, according to Brazil's Ministry of Health.

The death number registered on Tuesday was more than twice as many as the 302 of Monday, raising its death toll to 170,115.

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally reached 9,222,216 on Wednesday as 44,376 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry.

According to the data, the death toll mounted to 134,699 as 481 COVID-19 patients died since Tuesday morning.

BEIJING -- The Chinese mainland on Tuesday reported no new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said Wednesday.

A total of five imported COVID-19 cases were reported on the mainland Tuesday, the commission said in its daily report.

BOGOTA -- Colombia reported 7,515 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide tally to 1,262,494, Colombian health authorities said Tuesday.

Meanwhile, 198 more deaths were reported, raising the nationwide death toll to 35,677, the authorities said, adding that 1,167,857 people have so far recovered from the disease.

BUENOS AIRES -- The Argentine Ministry of Health on Tuesday reported 7,164 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, taking the national count to 1,381,795.

The ministry said 311 more patients died of the disease, bringing the nationwide tally to 37,432.

MEXICO CITY -- Mexico may start COVID-19 vaccinations in December if regulatory institutions certify the effectiveness of the drugs, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said on Tuesday.

Mexico is in contact with firms working on "highly effective projects," including China's CanSino Biologics, the U.S.' Pfizer and Britain's AstraZeneca, Ebrard said at a press conference.

FREETOWN -- The Chinese embassy in Sierra Leone on Tuesday handed over a batch of medical supplies to the country's government for its fight against COVID-19.

The donation includes testing kits, respirators, surgical masks, personal protective equipments and other related accessories.

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 382 more cases of COVID-19 as of 0:00 a.m. Wednesday local time compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 31,735.

The daily caseload hovered above 300 for two straight days, growing in triple digits for 18 days running due to the continued small cluster infections in Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi province as well as imported cases. Enditem
