ISTANBUL, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Turkish police detained on Thursday at least 19 people in Istanbul over their suspected links to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), local media reported.

The Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Unit teams launched simultaneous operations in 28 addresses across the city to catch the suspects, including a deputy mayor of the Sisli district, the CNN Turk broadcaster said.

The suspects have been allegedly conducting activities in Istanbul on behalf of the PKK, it noted.

In the searches conducted at the addresses, a pistol and spare magazine, 103 bullets, and digital materials related to the PKK were also seized, according to CNN Turk.

It added that police have been trying to catch six more suspects.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the EU, has been rebelling against the Turkish government for 30 years. Enditem
