Roundup: Bullish spell ends at Pakistan's PSX on profit-taking

ISLAMABAD, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) reported bearish trading activities on the last day of the weekly trade on Friday as investors focused to book profits after recent rally left many scrips in an overbought zone.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange's benchmark KSE 100-Index declined by 0.55 percent, or 223.94 points, to close at 40,807.09 points on Friday when compared with 41,031.03 points reported on Thursday.

The trading session on Friday recorded bearish trends and the main index moved in a narrow range of 313.22 points to touch an intraday high of 41,066.52 points as against an intraday low of 40,753.30 points.

The KSE All-Share Index dipped by 0.27 percent or 76.69 points to end at 28,719.60 points, the KSE 30-Index decreased by 0.78 percent, or 134.97 points, to end at 17,159.82 points, the KMI 30-Index moved down by 0.95 percent or 629.57 points to conclude at 65,731.71 points, whereas the Islamic All-Share Index fell by 0.53 percent, or 107.43 points, to finish the final trading session of the week at 20,198.07 points.

Market volumes slightly improved by 2.21 percent, or 8.617 million shares, to 397.784 million shares on Friday when compared with the trading of 389.167 million shares posted on Thursday.

Market value decreased by 17.88 percent, or 2.866 billion rupees, to close at 13.160 billion rupees on Friday as against Thursday's closing figure of 16.026 billion rupees.

Among 364 active scrips on Friday, the prices of 184 issues closed higher, 161 finished lower, whereas values of 19 other listed companies remained unchanged ahead of the weekend.

Unity Foods Limited, TRG Pakistan Limited, and K-Electric Limited were the top traded companies with turnovers of 53.465 million shares, 46.018 million shares, and 23.109 million shares, respectively.

Rafhan Maize Products Limited emerged as the top performer of the day with an increment of 200.00 rupees per share to close at 8,600.00 rupees while on the other hand, Khyber Tobacco Company Limited led the worst performers with a decrement of 25.85 rupees per share to finish the penultimate trading session of the week at 413.45 rupees.
