ISTANBUL -- Turkish police detained 79 suspects in nationwide operations as part of terrorism-related investigations, local media reported on Friday.

At least 25 people were apprehended by security forces over their suspected links to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the western province of Izmir, northwestern Balikesir, and southern Mersin, the state-run Anadolu agency said. (Turkey-Terrorists)

YANGON -- The Myanmar military has seized a large haul of narcotic drugs which were worth 837 billion kyats (634.09 million U.S. dollars) in the first 11 months of this year, a military spokesperson told a press briefing on Friday.

The military confiscated over 921 kg of heroin, 21,139 kg of methamphetamine (ICE), 237.5 million stimulant tablets and others as of Nov. 24, Brigadier General Zaw Min Tun of the Military True News Information Team said.(Myanmar-Drugs)

TEHRAN -- Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Araghchi praised on Friday efforts leading to the liberation of three Iranians imprisoned in Thailand and one Australian-British citizen jailed in Iran.

"I was honored to welcome the three freed compatriots released, and upon their arrival and assurances of their health, the order was given to release the Australian prisoner," Araghchi said, as quoted by official news agency IRNA. (Iran-Prisoners-Swap)

NEW DELHI -- At least three people were killed and five others injured on Friday as the passenger bus hit a low-lying high-voltage wire in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, police said.

The bus immediately caught fire after coming in contact with the wire. The accident took place on the Jaipur-Delhi highway at the village of Achrol in Jaipur, the state's capital. (India-Bus-Accident) Enditem
