TRIPOLI, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The eastern-based army of Libya on Saturday announced arresting seven terrorists in the southern city of Ubari, some 1,000 km south of the capital Tripoli.
Military units raided a hideout of al-Qaida and arrested the seven terrorists of different nationalities, the eastern-based army's spokesman Ahmad al-Mismari said in a statement.
A large amount of weapons and ammunition were seized during the operation, "which aims to pursue and eliminate terrorist remnants," al-Mismari said.
Ubari and its surroundings often witness movements of terrorist groups as well as arms trade across the Libyan desert.
Ever since the fall of the late leader Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011, Libya has been suffering escalating violence and political instability. Enditem
